Media Advisory: You're Invited to WWF's National Sweater Day Launch

Leading Canadian Fashion Talent Raising Awareness for Energy Conservation With Donated Sweaters

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Jan. 26, 2011) - WWF is kicking off its National Sweater Day campaign, presented by Loblaw Companies Limited, on Wednesday, February 2 with a Toronto fashion show featuring designer sweaters.

From repurposed knits to recycled and sustainable materials, Canada's most celebrated designers are putting their own spin on the humble yarn garment in honour of National Sweater Day. The sweaters will be showcased up and down the laneways of the Ballroom, Toronto's exciting new bowling alley, bar and bistro.

Following the show, the sweaters will be available for auction on eBay, with proceeds going to WWF's conservation work. This includes an original Lucian Matis piece that was designed specifically for the National Sweater Day show.

National Sweater Day encourages Canadians to show their love for the planet on February 17, 2011 by turning down their thermostats by three degrees Celsius. Wearing a sweater on this day is a symbolic gesture of support for rethinking Canada's energy consumption to help fight climate change.
