Media Alert: Narus to Exhibit at 2011 GFIRST Conference

Narus Will Present Speaking Session on Finding Non-Signature Threats, as Well as Its Award-Winning NarusInsight Solution for Cyber Protection

SUNNYVALE, CA--(Marketwire - Aug 2, 2011) -

WHAT:
Narus, Inc., the leader in dynamic cyber traffic intelligence and analytics, announced today it will exhibit at the seventh annual GFIRST National Conference held August 9-11, 2011 in Nashville, Tenn. Sponsored by the United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US-CERT), the conference will bring together cyber security experts, top information security professionals and government officials to discuss the latest in cyber security news and trends. As part of this, Narus will showcase its traffic intelligence solution, the NarusInsight Solution for Cyber Protection. Narus' Director of Federal Engineering and CISSP David J. Cavuto will also speak at a session entitled "A New Look Using Differential Network Traffic Analysis to Find Emerging Non-Signature Threats: One of Those Things is Not Like the Others."

Narus experts will be on hand at the Narus booth to answer questions about the NarusInsight Solution for Cyber Protection, which provides real-time detection of unwanted or malicious traffic for the protection and management of large IP networks. Built on the NarusInsight Traffic Intelligence system, the NarusInsight Solution for Cyber Protection is used by government organizations and large enterprises around the world. Customers using the NarusInsight Solution for Cyber Protection can be confident that they have full visibility into their network, and will be able to identify threats in real time to thwart cyber attacks.

Held August 9 at 1 p.m., Mr. Cavuto's session, "A New Look Using Differential Network Traffic Analysis to Find Emerging Non-Signature Threats: One of Those Things is Not Like the Others," will provide critical information on advanced persistent threats; specifically, how they evade network security devices by masquerading as "normal" traffic. Mr. Cavuto will not only instruct attendees on how to adaptively profile and detect these non-signature threats with Layer 7 traffic metadata records, he will also show attendees how to leverage condensed information extracted from the network at Layer 3-7, with none of the redundancy typically resulting from raw packet capture. Attendees will also learn to build a baseline of behavior and find anomalies across a range of protocol metrics. Ultimately, by following the approaches presented by Mr. Cavuto in this presentation, attendees will be able to build a stronger security system to protect their critical infrastructures.
