MEDIA ALERT: National Committee of UN Women Canada to Celebrate the Launch of a Historic New United Nations Entity

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - March 27, 2011) - Ms. Almas Jiwani, President of the National Committee for UN Women - Canada is pleased to announce the launch for the newly established United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) on Monday, March 28, 2011.

Where: UN Women- Canada will be hosting the reception for the launch of the National Committee at Tudor Hall, Oglivy on 1307, rue Sainte-Catherine Ouest, 5e étage, Montréal, Québec.

Focus: The creation of UN Women by the United Nations marks a new era for gender equality, and signals the commitment by the UN Member States to accelerate progress on gender rights and the economic women's rights and empowerment. UN Women will provide a powerful voice for women's issues and will spearhead a more coordinated and effective response to gender inequalities around the world.
