WHY: The goal of Ride to Rebuild New Orleans is to raise awareness about
the need for continued support for the rebuilding effort in New
Orleans. The team also seeks to fundraise $50,000 ($10 for every
mile ridden) to support the rebuilding of the home of Ms. Beatrice
Foster, a resilient 81 year-old, who has endured a harrowing
experience since Hurricane Katrina, when she was forced to float
from her home through 6 feet of water on a makeshift raft
supported by her son. Upon concluding the first leg of their trip
in New Orleans, Boutin and Tester will volunteer with Rebuilding
Together New Orleans for three weeks before continuing to ride to
California. Rebuilding Together New Orleans is part of the
national organization Rebuilding Together with more than 200
        affiliates nationwide.
