BELMONT, CA--(Marketwire - Oct 30, 2012) - BlogHer, Inc., the premium cross-platform media network and publisher for women, announced today the release of its first eBook anthology, The BlogHer Voices of the Year: 2012. Each year, the BlogHer Voices of the Year readings by community members are the very heart of BlogHer's annual conference, the world's largest conference for bloggers and social media power users. This first anthology features 80 works honored at BlogHer '12 this past August in New York City.
Submitted by the BlogHer community, and curated by a committee that includes the BlogHer founders, guest judges, and former Voices of the Year honorees, the selected pieces showcase powerful personal stories, incisive commentary, hilarious observations, and memorable images. This year's categories include Heart, Humor, Identity, OpEd, Parenting, and Visuals.
The publication and distribution of this collection, the first of a series of planned eBooks, is an opportunity for BlogHer community members to be published, promoted, and paid for their work as active participants in the "BlogHer Economy," which has paid out $17 million to 4,250 bloggers over three years, from 2009 to 2011.
BlogHer will publish seven collections over the next year in collaboration with Open Road Media, a digital publisher and multimedia content company that markets its eBooks through a new proprietary online platform using premium video content and social media. Each publication will focus on a specific popular theme and feature contributions from the most unique and insightful voices in the BlogHer community. The next BlogHer eBook, slated for release in January 2013, is entitled: Racy, Sexy, Saucy: Women Write Desire.
