TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - April 18, 2011) - At 2:30 p.m. today, Mon., April 18, Ontario Federation of Labour President Sid Ryan will present the federation's submission on Bill 160: An Act to amend the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act.
The Bill represents the first attempt in 20 years to make significant improvements to the Occupational Health and Safety Act. It is based on Tony Dean's Expert Advisory Panel on Occupational Health and Safety. The Panel was announced following the Christmas Eve 2009 deaths of four construction workers who were killed when their scaffolding collapsed.
Ryan will be available for comments after his presentation.
The OFL represents one million workers in 54 unions. It is Canada's largest provincial labour federation.
