Media Briefing in Regina: Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Update

REGINA, SASKATCHEWAN--(CCNMatthews - Aug. 3, 2005) -

Media are invited for a progress report on the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games and an update on the Own the Podium-2010 program

The Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC) will host a media briefing on Friday, August 5, 2005.

VANOC Chief Executive Officer, John Furlong, and Senior Vice-President of Sport, Cathy Priestner Allinger, will be available at the CBC/Radio-Canada Games Media Centre for the 2005 Canada Summer Games for a discussion and interviews about 2010 Games hosting and athlete preparation plans:



- John Furlong will present a general briefing on the status of the
Vancouver 2010 Organizing Committee, outlining the progress and
activities to date.

- Cathy Priestner Allinger, will be available for questions about the
Own the Podium-2010 program, including the Recruitment-2010 program
that targets summer elite athletes with medal potential in Olympic
winter sports.

The Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC) is responsible for the planning, organizing, financing and staging of the XXI Olympic Winter Games and the X Paralympic Winter Games in 2010. The 2010 Olympic Winter Games will be staged in Vancouver and Whistler from February 12 to 28, 2010. Whistler will host the Paralympic Winter Games from March 12 to 21, 2010.
