Media Conference: Candidates in Niagara Provincial By-Election Must Answer Key Questions About Their Health Care Plans for the Region

NIAGARA FALLS, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Jan. 31, 2014) -

Attn: Assignment Editor

When: Monday February 3, 11:00 a.m.
Where: Niagara Falls City Hall, Committee Room 2, located at 4310 Queen Street
What: Ontario's Liberal government has announced a new hospital for Niagara, but part of that plan includes closing five (5) hospitals in Fort Erie, Port Colborne, Welland, Niagara Falls and Niagara-on-the-Lake. So far, there are no clear promises about how many hospital beds and services would be left after all the existing hospitals outside of St. Catharines are closed.
The Niagara Health Coalition has been trying to convene a health care all-candidates meeting and debate to enable the public to guage the various candidates' positions on the key health care issues, without success.
The Niagara Health Coalition in conjunction with the Ontario Health Coalition is calling on all candidates in the Niagara Falls by-election to respond to concerns about health care services and their political parties' plans in the Niagara region.
