Media Conference on New Legal Regulations Planned by Ontario Government to Dismantle Community Hospitals and Bring In Private Clinics

The Ontario Health Coalition represents a network of more than 400 organizations from health professionals, doctors and nurses to seniors' organizations, unions, patient advocates, health and social service agencies, diverse cultural organizations, students and other public interest and equity-seeking organizations. The coalition has also organized a network of more than 50 local health coalitions in rural communities, towns and cities across the province. The OHC is the largest public interest group on health care in Ontario.
What: The Wynne government has quietly issued notice of its intention to bring in new regulations under the Independent Health Facilities Act (IHFA) and the Local Health System Integration Act (LHSIA) to usher in new private clinics to take hospital services out of local hospitals. The Ontario Health Coalition is holding this press conference to respond to these plans.
