Media Consultants Offer Advice for Business People Caught in Recession; Phoenix Media Workshop Scheduled

PHOENIX, AZ--(Marketwire - February 26, 2009) - Women Media Pros, a Beverly Hills media consulting firm founded by a long-time CNN Vice President, is presenting a workshop for Phoenix area business professionals on March 6th. Women Media Pros' founder Suzanne Spurgeon says, "In today's economic environment, it is more important than ever for business owners to set themselves apart from their competitors. And a powerful way to do that is through positive media attention." Tired of seeing the same experts in reporter pieces and as on-air guests, the consulting firm is teaching business owners and other professionals how to get into the game. As a former TV News Producer, Spurgeon says producers are anxious to expand their rolodex of experts in all professions.

The media workshop will teach professionals how to best get their message out to the media. The two-hour workshop also includes practice interviews conducted on-camera. Spurgeon will be joined by former Phoenix reporter/host Yvette Fernandez. The media consultants coach clients to appear relaxed in front of the camera and stay on message. Fernandez, who is bi-lingual, stresses, "It is extremely important for business people to include Spanish-language media outlets to get their message out to the widest group of potential clients."

Spurgeon is aware many business people are afraid to spend money on anything they do not consider essential right now. But she offers, "We've made our workshops affordable rather than hold on to the old notion that media coaching is just for high end clients."

Women Media Pros is a group of eight women journalists with experience at CNN, FOX, ABC, NBC, CBS, BET and various print outlets. Their clients include business owners, executives, lawyers, public information officers, doctors, politicians, authors and celebrities. The firm has clients throughout the west coast.
