Media Invited for Peek at Sennheiser's New Research Facility in Palo Alto, as Innovative "Sennheiser Sound Tour" Comes to Town

High Tech and Audiophile Media Community Welcomed to In-Person Demonstration of Groundbreaking HD 800 Headphones, Dubbed "Best in the World"

PALO ALTO, CA--(Marketwire - August 3, 2009) - Sennheiser has always been synonymous with high quality and innovation, even among the most meticulous and demanding audiophile consumers. Its HD 800 headphones, which many say are the best sounding headphones in the world, were introduced last January to an overwhelmingly positive response. Four years ago, Sennheiser decided to invest in a research facility in Palo Alto, CA focused primarily on digital signal processing (DSP) and effects. At this location, Sennheiser is in the process of developing DSP effects for the HD 800 headphones.

This Wednesday, the Sennheiser Sound Tour ( invites members of the technical and music-oriented media community to Sennheiser's new Palo Alto office for a personal audition of the Sennheiser HD 800 headphones (retail: $1,400). The experience will include a full demonstration of its 7.1 surround capabilities as well as a preview of yet to be released DSP effects. In addition to the headphone demonstration, the "Guys Team" of the Sennheiser Sound Tour (read below) will be on hand to interact with the media.

The Sennheiser HD 800 headphones contain an innovative transducer and ear cup design, and offer spectacular sound imaging and spatiality through the use of a 56mm sound transducer -- the largest found on any pair of dynamic headphones. Most impressive is the HD 800's faithful reproduction of the sound field, which through patented localization and time delay technology, corresponds to a listening experience typically associated with loudspeakers.

Members of the media are requested to RSVP, details as follows:
