Media Release: $800,000 Success By 6 Investment to Expand Early Childhood Support Throughout Lower Mainland

LOWER MAINLAND, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - April 3, 2006) - Twenty three agencies supporting children and families throughout the Lower Mainland are receiving a total $800,000 to expand access to early childhood services.

The new funding is allocated through Success By 6 Lower Mainland.

Monday, April 10 marks the launch of the Success By 6 Spring Campaign (April 10 to May 7) to raise awareness and much-needed funds to help early childhood programs throughout the Lower Mainland. Through increasing awareness and raising funds, Success By 6 is dedicated to helping agencies to provide services more frequently, for longer hours and with greater capacity.

By supporting Success By 6 and other early childhood development programs, we're committed to significantly reducing the number of vulnerable children in the Lower Mainland."

Success By 6 in BC is a joint initiative of United Ways, Credit Unions, the provincial government through the Ministry of Children and Family Development, and community leaders. The program is dedicated to ensuring that children ages 0 to 6 have access to programs that support their healthy growth and development. Success By 6 builds community through engaging citizens in early childhood development and funding programs that include literacy, nutrition, children's play, parenting and family skills development.
