Media Release/British Columbia Lottery Corporation: World-Class Entertainment Facility Opens in Port Alberni

RICHMOND, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Sept. 14, 2007) - British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC), Alberni Valley Gaming Association (AVGA), and Coulson Group are pleased to announce the official opening of the new Chances RimRock entertainment facility in Port Alberni.

"British Columbia Lottery Corporation is proud to work with the City of Port Alberni and Alberni Valley Gaming Association to provide a world-class entertainment facility for local residents and tourists," said Marsha Walden, BCLC's Vice-President, Bingo Gaming.

Located at 4890 Cherry Creek Road, this new 27,000 square foot facility offers 74 slot machines, 90 touch screen bingo terminals, 92 traditional paper bingo seats, one electronic Blackjack game, lottery products, interactive-style games, off-track betting for horse racing, a virtual games room, plus great food and beverage service including a microbrewery.

"After many years of providing bingo to local residents, we invite everyone to come and experience the very best in entertainment from bingo and slots to virtual sports and live music," said Greg Mollon, President of AVGA.

The first community gaming centre with a rainforest theme, Chances RimRock's custom-built furniture and wood-beam construction showcases Port Alberni's locally manufactured majestic timber. Most species in a Pacific Northwest rainforest are represented including yellow and red cedar, Douglas Fir, maple, alder and hemlock.

"This is a one-of-kind entertainment facility with a unique theme," said Wayne Coulson, CEO of Coulson Group and Chances RimRock. "Anyone who walks into Chances RimRock will experience the beauty of the Pacific Northwest rainforest, as if they were outdoors."

BCLC contracts with AVGA, which has partnered with Coulson Group, to provide day-to-day operational services for this facility. Chances RimRock replaces Dob City Bingo, which operated on Third Avenue since 1989.

Gaming in B.C. supports over 6,000 charitable and community organizations throughout the province. In fiscal year 2006/07, 65 charitable and community organizations in the Port Alberni area received approximately $1.4 million in community gaming grants, including almost $1.2 million in bingo affiliation grants and over $205,000 in direct access grants.

BCLC is committed to revitalizing B.C.'s commercial bingo industry in a socially responsible manner by offering an exciting entertainment experience in first-class facilities. Chances RimRock has a Self-Serve Responsible Play Information Centre, which will provide customer education and support related to responsible play and problem gambling.

BCLC is a provincial Crown Corporation reporting to the Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General through a Board of Directors. Its mission is to offer responsible gaming entertainment, generating income for the public good.
