Media6Degrees Chief Scientist Claudia Perlich Honored With Multiple Awards in 2013

Perlich Named Bellagio/PopTech Fellow, General Chair of KDD 2014, AMA 4 Under 40 Winner and ARF Grand Prize Winner

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Aug 27, 2013) - Media6Degrees (m6d), the advertising technology pioneer that revolutionizes marketing with its ProspectRank™ platform, shared several recent notable achievements of its chief scientist, Claudia Perlich. Perlich was selected as a member of the Bellagio/PopTech Fellows Class of 2013, was announced as the general chair of the 20th ACM SIGKDD Conference on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining (KDD), and was named a winner of the American Marketing Association's (AMA) 4 Under 40 award. Earlier this year, she won the Advertising Research Foundation's Grand Innovation Award.

PopTech and the Rockefeller Foundation produced a new joint fellows program focused on bringing together small, interdisciplinary groups of hand-selected artists, scientists, designers, technologists and social innovators for a recent two-week immersion at the Rockefeller Foundation's renowned Bellagio Center on Lake Como, Italy. Perlich was a natural fit for the program focused on community resilience through big data and technology. As one of the fellows, Perlich is exploring the extent to which big data and related technology can be used to enhance psychological, social and systemic resilience worldwide.

Perlich will also chair the 20th ACM SIGKDD Conference on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining (KDD) in New York in 2014. The annual ACM SIGKDD conference is the premier international forum for data mining, data science and big data researchers and practitioners from academia, industry and government. This year's conference attracted a record number of 1,200 attendees, who gathered in Chicago to share their ideas, research results and experiences. In addition to acting as a general chair for next year's conference, Perlich has held numerous organizing roles for KDD. "Claudia's dedication to data science and growth of the data science community is outstanding," said Bing Liu, Chair of the SIGKDD Executive Committee. "We are confident that under her leadership, KDD 2014 will surpass previous conferences with even richer content and more diverse attendance."

Additionally, Perlich will be honored as one of the winners during the '4 Under 40' Emerging Leaders Award Ceremony on September 10th as part of the 2013 AMA Annual Marketing Conference. She was selected as one of the four recipients because she has consistently demonstrated a commitment to the industry, the advancement of marketing in general and specifically of data science in advertising.

Perlich serves as a guide in the world of data, and these recognitions follow the achievement of this spring, where she was selected as a member of the Crain's NY annual 40 Under 40 list. Additionally, she has been published in over 30 scientific journals, holds multiple patents in machine learning, and has won many data mining competitions, including the prestigious KDD Cup three times. Perlich is a passionate leader with a high potential for collaboration and success, including leading by example, mentoring and transferring knowledge through her teaching role at New York University.
