MediaGate MG-350HD Declared Affordable Alternative to Apple TV by PC Magazine

BALDWIN PARK, CA--(Marketwire - June 13, 2007) - MediaGate, a provider of wireless HD TV and PC digital video drives, has been declared by PC Magazine as the affordable alternative to the Apple TV. The MG-350HD is capable of streaming online media, music, and photos to your high definition television, stereo system, or PC -- wirelessly.

Written for avid consumer electronic enthusiasts, PC Magazine aims to review products and report objectively in ways that assist consumers in learning which products are right for them. Tim Gideon, the Lead Audio and Video Analyst at PC Magazine, recognizes that media extenders have become quite popular with the launch of the Apple TV, however not everyone has, nor wants, iTunes accessibility.

MediaGate's MG-350HD allows users to stream their media directly to their High Definition (HD) televisions and/or stereo systems through a wireless (802.11g) LAN. It also functions as a media server for TVs as well as PCs throughout the home.

Downloadable, high quality content is quickly rapidly gaining traction in the consumer market through popular websites including CinemaNow, Bittorent, Guba, and MovieLink, major peer-to-peer (P2P) networks, as well as traditional motion picture studios and TV stations.

The MG-350 bridges the PC and TV. Providing all of the familiarity of living room consoles, the MG-350HD features an eight-button navigation system on the front bezel and also includes a remote, allowing the user to easily navigate through the programming.

Designed for home video enthusiasts, the MediaGate MG-350HD is a cross between a multimedia server and a network attached storage server. Users can either download content to their PCs or directly to the MG-350HD. For this purpose, users will have the scalability and convenience of adding any size hard drive needed.

"If your collection of files exists outside the iTunes world, the MG-350HD is a capable alternative that delivers on the basic promise of media extenders," stated Gideon. "It negates the need to wire your computer to your entertainment center in order to retrieve your content. The concept is a great one, but few current devices get the job done without lots of crashing or annoying limitations. For the patient, Wi-Fi-adept consumer, MediaGate has created an affordable, solid product."

The MG-350HD features every possible connectivity port needed for HD as well as standard TVs, including DVI, component, and S-Video. It also features optical and RCA for audio.

It is capable of connecting to both wired, and wireless networks via a 10/100 LAN interface and an 802.11g wireless.
