MediaPOINTE Debuts Software Enhancements to Digital Recording, Streaming and Player Product Lines at InfoComm 2009

NEWBURY PARK, CA--(Marketwire - June 9, 2009) - Advanced Media Design (AMD), developer of the award-winning AV-over-IP collaboration technology MediaPOINTE®, is exhibiting its modular end-to-end video capture and distribution system with advanced software upgrades in Booth #3341 at InfoComm in Orlando, June 17-19, 2009. In its efforts to continually improve its products, MediaPOINTE's significant software enhancements provide unique features and benefits that are not available in any other AV-over-IP product today.

"MediaPOINTE is in constant communication with our distributors and dealers, so we're able to make improvements based on market and customer needs," said Gareth Wade, vice president, sales and marketing, AMD/MediaPOINTE. "Our software upgrades meet and exceed those needs, and we're excited to show them to InfoComm attendees."

These software enhancements are designed to make recording, storing and distributing rich media content easier and more cost-effective.

Playback DVD -- MediaPOINTE's DMR products now have the ability to playback DVDs. By allowing its DMRs to also function as DVD players it further streamlines technology in classrooms and meeting rooms by eliminating the need for a separate DVD player.

Windows® Streaming -- By adding Windows Media streaming to its DMRs, MediaPOINTE provides more flexibility to end-users who may view video on a Windows standard. It gives users a wider format choice for archiving or streaming by allowing users to choose MPEG-4 format or Windows Media Player format.

Transcoding -- Transcoding provides the much-needed flexibility of changing formats after a recording session has been completed. MediaPOINTE can now transcode from Windows Media to MPEG-4 and back or from high resolution to low resolution. For example, a meeting may be recorded in high definition and then transcoded to make it available in iPOD® format.

CLI Commands -- Additional CLI (Command-Line Interface) adds extra capabilities to make more features available when integrating MediaPOINTE products. This enhancement is particularly useful for boardrooms, school rooms or training rooms that are controlled by AMX or Crestron panels.

Metadata Profile Compatibility with iTunes®/iTunes University -- iTunes University puts the power of the iTunes Store to work for colleges, universities, and other organizations, so users can easily search, download, and play education content. MediaPOINTE's DMRs can now automate this process by letting users pre-define metadata to allow standardized information, such as author and keywords, be associated with the recorded content. This is especially useful for recurring recordings such as lectures, department meetings, campus and corporate announcements.

Additional Templates -- MediaPOINTE has added additional templates into its recording and streaming products so users have increased flexibility when determining screen layout for their recordings. Flipped layouts -- content can appear on the right, video on left, more layouts available providing flexibility in images being streamed or recorded.

iPhone/iTouch Playback -- Users with iPhone™ and iPod touch® products can now play recordings directly from a MediaPOINTE Ensemble content management server using the embedded iPhone/iPod Touch web browser, which simplifies the workflow process. By adding this unique new functionality, content becomes more accessible and users now have more playback flexibility by either playing directly on their devices or downloading content using iTunes and playing at a later date.
