Mediatum Hosts 11th Annual Executive Forum for Life Sciences Decision-Makers

Over 100 Life Sciences Executives Gathered in Germany for Networking, Insightful Discussion and the Exchange of Ideas

CAMBRIDGE, MA--(Marketwire - Jun 5, 2012) - Mediatum, an executive search firm specializing in life sciences, recently hosted its 11th annual Executive Forum at the Vineyard Dr. Burklin-Wolf in Germany's Rhineland-Palatinate region. The Mediatum Executive Forum invites decision-makers at life sciences companies around the world to gather for two days of networking, intensive dialogue on real-world topics and talks from well-known authors and entertainers. Over 100 life sciences executives attended the Mediatum Executive Forum, which was sponsored by Eppendorf, a life science systems provider.

A special announcement was made at this year's Mediatum Executive Forum to introduce Mediatum U.S. Inc., the company's partner for all activities concerning the U.S. market. Mediatum U.S. Inc. opened its first U.S. office on Boston, MA in January.

The Mediatum Executive Forum is held in informal and inviting settings that are conducive to engaging in lively, extensive discussions encouraged by the scheduled speakers. Attendees listened to two talks with the theme of human nature and behavior. Dr. Thomas Muller, author of the bestselling book, "The Beast Called Man," presented thought-provoking insights on the causes, effects, and prevention of workplace violence. Tobias Schrodel, known as "Germany's first IT comedian," entertained attendees with a lesson on "Hacking for Managers," pointing out the technical and human weaknesses that can unwittingly expose sensitive data to third-party access and providing "hacker tricks" for protecting themselves.

The Mediatum Executive Forum agenda also offered opportunities for leisurely activity, including a round of golf and a walk and guided tour of the vineyard and winery at Vineyard Dr. Burklin-Wolf.

"Mediatum's focus on building relationships and networking spawned the idea for this annual Executive Forum and bringing together high-level life sciences managers to meet, participate in substantive discussions and exchange ideas with colleagues," said Christoph Boehringer, co-founder of Mediatum. "The Vineyard Dr. Burklin-Wolf is a perfect location for our Executive Forum as the vineyard shares our philosophy of offering customers consistent excellence and top-notch quality. We make the Executive Forum less about day-to-day business matters and more about sharing perspectives on worldly topics, as well as enjoying beautiful surroundings and fabulous food."

Participants' Reactions to Mediatum Executive Forum

"Most events I attend are the standard concept with the same people and redundant topics and are organized in 'finger food' locations. However, in all these aspects, the Mediatum Executive Forum was different," said Dr. Siegfried Bialojan, Executive Director, European Life Science Center at Ernst & Young AG. "Very interesting people, fantastic topics delivered by top presenters and all in one of the best German Riesling vineyards and accompanied by the best cuisine from all the continents. I truly enjoyed this event and the time spent will remain unforgettable."

"Fantastic presenters with outstanding topics," said Mr. Klaus Schollmeier, CEO at Santhera Pharmaceuticals AG. "This was the best networking event."

"The first Mediatum Executive Forums were focused on biotech; now we have pharma, medical device and investor folks attending," said Mr. Dirk Vetter, Managing Director at Substantial Technologies GmbH. "Great event, great people and yet very discreet."

"Great mix of big pharma executives, family enterprises, and small biotech," said Mr. Andreas Krebs, Chairman of Supervisory Board at Merz KGaA. "Very fruitful discussions without barriers in an absolutely unique, breathtaking setting."
