Medical Guardian Launches Health and Wellness Blog for Senior Citizens and Caregivers

PHILADELPHIA, PA--(Marketwired - Jun 5, 2013) - Over the past 12 years, internet usage by people between the ages of 50-64 has increased by over 20% -- rising from 50% in the year 2000 up to 77% in 2012. More than half of all American Seniors use the internet on a daily basis, and most of them are surfing the web in order to read the news and check their email.

Knowing that their clients are increasingly going digital, Medical Guardian has launched a blog dedicated to educating and entertaining seniors and their caregivers. The new blog (www.MedicalGuardian.com/blog) provides recipes, health tips, fitness tips and expert advice to Baby Boomers and the Sandwich Generation, as well as offering Caregiving tips to their adult children.

"Our sales team talks to seniors and their caregivers every day and we decided that it just isn't enough to provide them with safety equipment and send them on their way," said Medical Guardian Director of Sales Suzanne Costanza.

"We really want our clients to know that we're here to help them live a dignified and independent life -- whether it's providing help in an emergency or diet tips, we're encouraging them to increase their quality of life," Medical Guardian CEO, Geoff Gross, said.

While the blog soft-launched at the end of May, it already boasts expert advice from Philadelphia-area cardiologist Dr. Jeffrey Wuhl, New York-based EMT Brandon Leonard, and Dr. Katie Rickel, a licensed clinical psychologist and behavioral health expert from North Carolina.

Medical Guardian is a leading provider of Personal Emergency Response Systems (PERS) and has helped provide peace of mind to older Americans and their loved ones for over 30 years.
