SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwired - August 12, 2016) - Medical Marijuana, Inc. (OTC PINK: MJNA) announced today that its subsidiary HempMeds® Mexico is sponsoring and exhibiting at the Aug. 12-14 ExpoWeed Conference, the first-ever cannabis conference to be held in Mexico.
In addition, on Aug. 14 at 10:15 a.m. HempMeds® Mexico's new president Dion Markgraaff will be speaking at the ExpoWeed Conference, which is taking place at the International Exhibitions and Conference World Trade Center in Mexico City. Markgraaff will be joined by Mexico's champion for cannabis reform Raul Elizalde, founder of the Por Grace Foundation, the leading association fighting to ensure families receive the right to health care and medical access to cannabidiol (CBD) hemp oil in Mexico.
The Elizalde family was the first in Mexico to sue the federal government and win the right to import CBD hemp oil to treat their daughter Grace's severe form of epilepsy, which created the legal precedent for other Mexican families to import Medical Marijuana, Inc.'s Real Scientific Hemp Oil-X (RSHO-X™), including the Maldonado family. The Maldonados became one of the first two families in history to receive a permit from the Mexico government to import RSHO-X™ to treat their 11-year-old daughter Alina's severe form of epilepsy. Alina's father Abelardo Maldonado will also speak at the conference about how RSHO-X™ helped his daughter.
"It's exciting to see how the attitude in Mexico towards medical marijuana is positively evolving, as evident by this first-ever cannabis conference being held in Mexico City," said Medical Marijuana, Inc. CEO Dr. Stuart Titus. "We are proud that our CBD hemp oil was the first-ever product that the Mexico government approved for importation and we will continue advocating for 'access for all' on behalf of Mexico residents. We are confident that Mexico's marijuana policies will continue moving in the right direction away from prohibition and towards science-based policies and human rights and we appreciate families like the Maldonados continually raising awareness."
HempMeds® Mexico will also be exhibiting retail-ready cannabis products at the ExpoWeed Conference, including its zero-THC RSHO-X™, the first-ever cannabis product to receive approval from the federal government of Mexico for importation. RSHO-X™ is also the first cannabis-based product to qualify as safe for World Anti-Doping standards and therefore could be safely used by Olympic athletes.
Qualifying patients in Mexico interested in accessing RSHO-X™ can start the process on the HempMeds® Mexico website. Outside of Mexico, RSHO-X™ is sold as a supplement to all 50 U.S. states and over 40 countries internationally and can be found online in the Medical Marijuana, Inc. online store.
