Medicity Announces Interoperability Success at IHE North America Connectathon 2011

Connectathon Demonstrations Using Medicity Solutions Will Be Featured at HIMSS11 Interoperability Showcase, February 21-24 in Orlando, Fla.

SALT LAKE CITY, UT--(Marketwire - January 31, 2011) - Medicity -- the standard for health information exchange (HIE) solutions nationwide -- today announced successful validation of its interoperability expertise at the IHE North America Connectathon 2011. During the five-day event, Medicity demonstrated interoperability with more than 40 organizations and early adoption of new, HIE-focused standards using its MediTrust and ProAccess products.

"For a long time, Medicity has offered solutions that manage patient identity, efficiently locate health records, and exchange clinical documentation," stated Carol Owen, Medicity SVP of Product Management. "Our successful testing at the Connectathon validates our ongoing commitment to adopt, implement and promote standards-based exchange for these core HIE services."

Medicity passed every profile it tested at the event, focusing particularly on those related to the following cloud-based HIE services:

  • Identity Management Services: PIX v3 (client and server), PDQ v3 (client and server)
  • Record Locator Services: XCA (initiating and responding gateway)
  • CCD Export: NAV (for email-based notifications), XDM (for portable media like USB drives)
  • Healthcare Provider Directory: HPD (client and server)
  • Audit and Logging: ATNA (client and server), CT (consistent time)

Medicity was the only vendor to successfully demonstrate secure clinical document push using email (NAV), one of only three vendors to demonstrate healthcare provider directories (HPD) servers, and one of a small number to demonstrate 'Blue Button' electronic record export (XDM).

"We are particularly proud of our involvement in testing the new Healthcare Provider Directory profile at the Connectathon," said Ashish V. Shah, Medicity SVP and Chief Architect. "We recognize the important role of provider directories in the ONC's (Office of the National Coordinator) key initiatives -- especially the Direct Project."

IHE is a recognized leader, both nationally and internationally, in creating healthcare industry standards related to the exchange of clinical information across organizational boundaries. Key IHE standards were adopted by the Nationwide Health Information Network Exchange (NHIN) and the Direct Project (formerly NHIN Direct). In addition, many statewide, regional, and private HIEs leverage the same foundational IHE standards.

Medicity will demonstrate its solutions at the HIMSS11 Interoperability Showcase as well as at HIMSS11 Booth 6749.
