Medline Selects GT Nexus as Cloud-Based Global Logistics Management Platform

Medical Products Leader Using GT Nexus to Standardize Commercial Interactions Across Logistics Partner Network

OAKLAND, CA--(Marketwire - Apr 12, 2011) - GT Nexus today announced that it has been selected by Medline Industries, Inc. to provide the medical products company with an enhanced global logistics management platform. Delivered as a cloud-based technology service, the platform will allow Medline to further automate and manage its multi-million dollar logistics spend with its global partners.

Medline, the nation's largest privately held manufacturer and distributor of healthcare products, manufactures and distributes more than 100,000 products to hospitals, extended care facilities, surgery centers, home care dealers and agencies. With multiple manufacturing sites and suppliers worldwide, Medline manufactures many of the products it sells and delivers direct to the marketplace. Medline sells in every state and in more than 20 countries.

"With the growth of our global supply chain operation, the time had come to further enhance the way we run our logistics network," said Mike Collins, vice president of inbound transportation and logistics at Medline. "GT Nexus is the market leader in providing the spend management technology we need and all of our partners were already on the platform. We get all of the enhanced technology, in the cloud. The overall value proposition was very attractive to us."

"Medline is a welcome addition to our customer community," said John Urban, president of GT Nexus. "As a leader in their industry, Medline's presence on the platform elevates the medical products vertical as one of the most well represented business segments on GT Nexus. They will benefit through best practice sharing among industry peers and other large importers who run their logistics operations on the same platform."

GT Nexus is a cloud supply chain platform that is shared by large enterprise customers from every business vertical. Companies manage their physical and financial supply chains on GT Nexus with solutions such as supply chain visibility, trade finance, business intelligence, freight contracting, and supplier enablement. The applications are fused with an integrated network of 3PLs, carriers, banks and suppliers who are actively working with other GT Nexus customers.

Medline will interact with its partner network to procure services and manage contracts for ocean transportation. All of Medline's carrier partners are already active on GT Nexus supporting other large shippers and using existing information and process standards. This allows Medline to roll out and get results quickly.
