Medline Shines Spotlight on Innovative Surgical Products at 58th Annual AORN Congress

Booth Demonstrations and Education Highlights New Surgical Retractors, Sponge Counting and Detection, Patient Warming and Surgical Mesh Technologies

MUNDELEIN, IL--(Marketwire - March 22, 2011) - Looking to bring innovative technologies into the O.R., Medline Industries, Inc. will be showcasing new surgical retractors, tissue adhesive and patient warming products at the 58th Annual Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) Congress now in session in Philadelphia, PA.

Among the products Medline will demonstrate at its booth (#3408) during the three-day exhibition:

  • Surgical mesh biomaterials MotifMESH® and VitaMESH® for the repair and reinforcement of hernia and other fascial defects requiring additional support of a non-absorbable implant during and after wound healing
  • The ReeTrackt series of ultra-low profile disposable soft-tissue surgical retractors. They are designed to allow improved access to the surgical field, minimize tissue damage and avoid secondary electrosurgical burns
  • The PerfecTemp OR table pad, which uniquely incorporates both pressure-reducing high-tech material to reduce the incidence of pressure ulcers and a warming system to combat hypothermia
  • The ClearCount SmartSponge® System -- a simple and effective solution for preventing retained sponges in surgery.

The Medline team is also demonstrating its Medline University, its fast-growing free online clinical education resource. Medline University offers 186 free continuing education credits covering a broad healthcare curriculum, including Infection Control, Incontinence, Respiratory Care, Long-Term Care Administration and Nursing; Home Care, Legal Aspects of Nursing and Safety.
