Meet POP -- The App That Just Reinvented Texting

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwired - May 29, 2015) - With its recent design update, now available on iOS and Android, POP Messenger may have just reinvented text messaging. POP lets users text with different fonts and colors, a seemingly obvious feature no other messenger has. It also makes it easy to send photos, videos, web images, GIFs and music. The cherry on top? Users can send POPs to anyone with a US phone number, so their friends don’t need the app.

“It’s 2015. You can practically print a 3D self-driving car. But you can’t customize a text message beyond emoji? We thought basic texting needed an update.” That’s Greg Woock, CEO of Pinger, POP’s parent company.

“There’s no shortage of messaging apps out there but they all essentially look the same. POP is focused on making the everyday texting experience better by allowing users immediate access to content beyond their camera and camera roll when they want to use more than just text.” A key to success is easy user adoption according to Woock. “We made sure POP works just like SMS from day one. Your friends don’t need the app for you to use POP,” Woock says.

POP’s goal is to strike the right balance between two common types of messaging; quick, simple texting and special messages that aim higher than a text bubble. If you want simple text, you can customize your font and bubble color. If you want more, POP’s toolbar lets you use any image from the web, any song from iTunes, a GIF, drawing or scalable, moveable text in your message.

Pinger isn’t new to the messaging space. In fact, Pinger was among the first app developers in the iOS marketplace. Their flagship app, Textfree, gives users a real phone number so they can text and talk for free. Textfree continues to be one of the most popular messaging and calling apps for both iPhone and Android users, empowering millions of people to communicate freely every day.

While Textfree fulfills a specific need, POP will attract users who want unique, fun and creative ways to chat. For those purposes, POP’s features won’t disappoint.
