Megola Provides Solution to Softener Bans and Restrictions

Numerous Installations Around the World Demonstrate the Technology's Viability

CORUNNA, ON -- (MARKET WIRE) -- October 11, 2006 -- Megola Inc. (OTCBB: MGOA), a leading environmental solution provider in physical water treatment, air purification, microbiological control, and wastewater treatment, continues to prove that it has an effective and environmentally friendly alternative to salt softeners.

The statement is in response to the cover story in the September issue of Water Technology Magazine which outlines the ongoing debate over salt softener discharge bans and restrictions in many parts of the United States. With the public being made more aware of the environmental impact from salt softener discharge, and the water treatment industry's subsequent efforts to avoid such bans, Megola's ScaleGuard technology should now, more than ever, be considered as a viable alternative.

Softener Bans and Severe Restrictions

Local proposals to ban or severely restrict the use of salt softeners in California, Texas, Michigan, Montana, and elsewhere have plagued the water treatment industry over the past several years. Chloride discharge into wastewater systems -- and subsequently the environment -- was the main issue. The (salt softener) dealers and national trade associations have worked hard since that time to counteract some of these proposals and have met with some degree of success, but the issue is not going away and many agree that it is only a matter of time before it is exposed again.

Inadequate Proposed Solution

New salt softener technology is becoming available that will decrease the discharge volume of softeners by switching to demand-based regeneration instead of time-based, but this does not completely solve the problem.

Megola has the Answer

Megola's ScaleGuard series of physical water treatments systems use the latest electromagnetic technology to prevent and remove hard water scale deposits without the use of salt or other chemicals, thereby solving the problem of chloride discharge while maintaining the properties of soft water that salt softener users have become accustomed.

"Although we have been promoting our ScaleGuard systems as alternatives to salt softeners for years, we have met with much skepticism from the water treatment industry due to similar, but inferior devices on the market. However, with our units installed around the world, we are proving that our technology is sound and that there is a low maintenance, energy saving and environmentally friendly method of treating hard water," states Joel Gardner, CEO of Megola Inc.

Megola continues to establish ScaleGuard as a viable option in dealing with hard water problems and carries a product line that will provide solutions for a range of applications from residential to industrial in size.
