MELISA® Is the Fourth Entrant in Medical Arsenal for Neuro-Endocrine-Immune Supersystem(C) Testing and Product Protocols

OSCEOLA, WI--(Marketwire - February 22, 2010) -  NeuroScience, Inc. (www.neuroscienceinc.com), the leader in Neuro-Endo-Immune (NEI) solutions, announces that it is now offering MELISA® (MEmory Lymphocyte Immuno-Stimulation Assay) testing. MELISA® is a significant addition to the NEI Testing Protocol, which is designed to assist healthcare practitioners in rapidly identifying the potential root causes of clinical complaints while treating patients to achieve symptom relief. MELISA® is a root cause test that identifies a patient's hypersensitivity to foreign materials, such as metals, that may be causing an inflammatory response. The inflammatory response can lead to neurological, endocrine, immune, and dermatological symptoms.

Historically, neurology, endocrinology, and immunology have been considered to be three different systems. However, current research suggests they are actually part of one, integrated NEI Supersystem©, linked by their respective biochemical messengers: neurotransmitters, hormones, and cytokines. Optimal functioning requires these NEI messengers to be in balance. Patients who are identified by MELISA® testing as hypersensitive to foreign materials have an increased immune reaction to the foreign material being tested, resulting in imbalances in the NEI Supersystem©.

The MELISA® system tests for Type-IV delayed hypersensitivity reactions, which are mediated by memory T-cells. The cells are isolated and tested against the chosen foreign materials. A positive MELISA® result indicates hypersensitivity and/or prior exposure to the foreign material. It also indicates the potential presence of the foreign material in the body.

NeuroScience, Inc. currently utilizes MELISA® testing to identify the presence of hypersensitivities to metals. This contrasts with serum, urine, and hair analyses, which identify whether or not toxic levels of metals are present. Patients with levels below toxic concentrations can still be hypersensitive to that metal, resulting in symptoms. NeuroScience, Inc. plans to increase its MELISA® testing menu to include organophosphates, microbial proteins, and food antigens. To learn more about MELISA®, visit www.neuroscienceinc.com/MELISA.
