Melkior Drills in Carscallen-West Timmins Gold Area

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - July 8, 2009) - Melkior Resources Inc., (TSX VENTURE:MKR) is pleased to announce that drilling on its Carscallen gold property west of Timmins Ontario began on July 7, 2009. The program will initially consist of 8 to 10 holes for a total of at least 1200 metres.

The objective of the drill program is to test a new 700 metre long East-West Induced Polarization (IP) anomaly immediately north of the previously drilled Zam-Zam and 3 other zones where gold values in drilling that include 60.27 g/t over 1.8 metres and 19.8 g/t over 3.3 metres were obtained and surface sampling in narrow quartz-pyrite veins graded up to 843.7 g/t gold. The new east-west IP anomaly was identified during a winter geophysical program. It will be drilled to depths of 100 to 200 metres. To date the majority of the holes drilled have intersected gold are consistently associated with pyrite that is detectable by IP. Previous drilling has concentrated on north-south structures which have intersected gold bearing structures in four zones over a total strike length of 950 metres. These zones remain open along strike to the north and the south and to depth. Deep drilling of the north-south structures is in the planning stages.

The Melkior Carscallen property adjoins that of West Timmins Mining and is approximately 6 kilometres due west of the Lake Shore-West Timmins new gold discoveries at Thunder Creek, Rusk and Porphry and 6 kilometres west of Lake Shore's West Timmins developing gold deposit. Recent announcements by these companies demonstrate that there is substantial unexplored gold potential in the area. Melkior's results to date compare favourably to the early shallow, results by Lake Shore and West Timmins. The shallow drilling is improving Melkior's knowledge of the property which will be used to direct successively deeper drilling. Melkior is well financed for this program and for further drilling once assays have been received.
