Melkior Extends Carscallen Gold Zones

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 20, 2009) - Melkior Resources Inc. ("Melkior") (TSX VENTURE:MKR) has received and analyzed all the data from its 2009 winter ground geophysics program on its 100% owned Carscallen Gold property located west of Timmins Ontario. The Carscallen property covers 1342 hectares and adjoins claims held by West Timmins and is located 5 kilometres west of the Lake Shore Gold' Timmins West shaft. Recent results from West Timmins on the the Rusk and porphyry zones demonstrate the potential for major new gold mines west of Timmins. Shallow drilling to date on Melkior's Carscallen gold property has revealed significant gold values over a strike length totalling approximately one kilometre. Recent drilling has also identified porphyry systems with gold bearing quartz veining which is geologically similar to the new discoveries by Lake Shore and West Timmins. These were discovered in the latest drill program which has been focussed on north-south veins in tonalite.

The 2009 winter program consisted of a 17.6 kilometre Induced Polarization (IP)/ Resistivity survey and a 41 kilometre magnetometer survey. The grid covered the 1010 zone, the Zam-Zam zone and their potential extensions in a north-south line direction. The final data defined new IP anomalies extending the Zam-Zam zone approximately 100 metres northward beyond current drilling. In addition, a deeper, east-west IP anomaly approximately 700 metres long has been identified north of the Zam-Zam zone. It coincides in places with strong, isolated magnetic anomalies. The gold values are accompanied by anomalous silver and are consistently in association with pyrite, frequently disseminated. For this reason Induced Polarization which detects disseminated sulphides is an ideal geophysical tool. The recently completed IP survey can detect pyrite to a depth of approximately 75 metres. The new IP anomalies will be tested by a series of six holes, totalling approximately 1000 metres. Melkior is in the process of obtaining drill contracts and will commence drilling once a drill contract is finalized.

Melkior is aware that gold systems in the West Timmins area will require deep drilling and results to date indicate that such a program is of merit. Deep drilling is the next logical phase after successful shallow drilling.
