Melkior Logs 752 Metres Drill Core in Carscallen (West Timmins)

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 31, 2009) - Melkior Resources Inc. ("Melkior") (TSX VENTURE:MKR) is reporting news from its 100% owned Carscallen Gold Property (formerly known as Timmins West Gold property) in Carscallen Township, Timmins, Ontario. The Carscallen Gold Property is located 5km west of the Lake Shore Gold Corp. Bristol mine and adjoins West Timmins Mining Inc. property.

39.8 kilometres of line cutting, followed-up by a ground magnetometer survey were completed and an induced polarization (I.P.) survey is currently being conducted between the 1010 and the Zam Zam Zones. In 2007, an I.P. anomaly, over the Zam Zam Zone, led to the discovery of a new gold occurrence, which assayed on surface 843.7 g/t Au (grab sample). The objective of the current program is to extend the known gold bearing structures in preparation for drilling.

The seven drill holes totaling 752 metres remaining from the 2008 drilling program were logged and sampled by David Rivard, one of the authors of this press release. After a visual observation, it is interesting to note that five of the seven holes intersected a Quartz-Feldspar Porphyry (QFP) containing 2% of disseminated pyrite. Hole TW-08-SH-01 intersected a 25 centimetres quartz vein, containing 75% pyrite and in Hole TW-08-SH-02 from 65.2 metres to 65.8 metres a silicified tonalite containing 10% pyrite was sampled. A total of 120 drill core samples were collected and sent to the laboratory. Assays results are expected within one or two weeks.

To date, exploration results have identified fault structures containing gold over a significant length of approximately 1 kilometre. Surface work and drilling have confirmed the continuity of the veins. Drilling has intersected interesting gold results including 60.27 g/t over 1.8 metres and 19.8 g/t over 3.3 metres (NR Jan 14, 2009). More than 90% of the drilled holes intersected gold bearing veins varying in width from a few centimeters to 3.3 metres.

Due to several other projects and companies in the area using Timmins West or West Timmins in their name, Melkior's management decided that its Timmins West Gold property will be henceforth known as the Carscallen Gold Property, after the township's in which the project is located.

This news release was prepared by David Rivard, P.Geo. and Jens E. Hansen, P. Eng, President and Director of Melkior who is the Qualified Person under Article 43-101.
