PROVIDENCE, RI--(Marketwired - Nov 12, 2013) - Meller Optics, Inc. is now offering sapphire in virtually any configuration and grade ranging from raw material to finished optics. The firm has been manufacturing finished sapphire products since 1921.

Meller Sapphire is available in all material grades ranging from mechanical non-optical to defect-free optical and wavelength transmission products in all orientations with no lattice distortion (confirmed by X-ray). It can be supplied as blocks and as lenses, carriers, wafers, windows, and domes in a variety of configurations and sizes from 0.5" to 5" O.D. ±0.00025".

Featuring Moh 9 hardness, second only to diamond, Meller Sapphire can be finished to 1/10th per wave flatness per inch, parallelism to 2 arc-sec, and surface finishes to 10-5 scratch-dig per MIL-PRF-13830, depending upon the material and configuration. Sapphire lenses can be supplied plano-convex and concave, biconvex and concave, and meniscus; sapphire windows and substrates can be plane, wedged, and tapered.

Meller Sapphire is priced according to sapphire material grade, configuration, and quantity. Raw material delivery is 2-6 weeks typical and custom optics are typically delivered within 8 weeks.
