Memorial Day Launch of Award-Winning CINEQUEST Films "The Conscientious Objector" and "Inside Iraq: the Untold Stories" on Net2TV's Portico TV Service

Feature-Length, Independent Films From CINEQUEST Run on Cloud-Based Portico TV Service Through Friday, June 7th

REDWOOD CITY, CA--(Marketwired - May 24, 2013) -  Net2TV Corporation (www.net2television.com) is offering two award-winning movies on its Portico connected-TV service through Friday, June 7. The feature-length films -- "The Conscientious Objector" and "Inside Iraq: the Untold Stories" -- are critically acclaimed and have won awards at CINEQUEST Film Festival.

"We want to give viewers access to fresh, creative voices and to help independent artists find a wider audience for their work," said Jim Monroe, Net2TV's co-founder and senior vice president of programming. "We're excited about the quality and impact of these films and are very pleased to have them as part of our Portico TV service."

"These two gripping films are examples of the type of independent film-making that deliver important stories more people should see," said Kathleen Powell, president and co-founder of CINEQUEST. "We are delighted to make them available as the nation pauses to reflect on the services of our armed forces."

"The Conscientious Objector" is a multiple-award-winning film by Terry Benedict that tells the true story of Desmond T. Doss, a World War II hero who never touched a firearm. This is an inspiring account of a peaceful man who, because of his religious beliefs, renounced all weapons. He saved countless lives as a medic on the front lines and received the Congressional Medal of Honor. http://bit.ly/132UNr6

"Inside Iraq: the Untold Stories" chronicles a two-month journey inside Iraq. Armed with a video camera, a home-made press pass, and a single phone number written on a piece of paper, amateur filmmaker Mike Shiley set out to uncover the reality of life in Iraq. He interviewed American and Iraqi soldiers, talked to local citizens, and put himself at personal risk. Rather than push a political point of view, the film captures a multitude of real-life moments, and puts into personal context the stories we hear about in the news. http://bit.ly/10pg5AG

In addition to CINEQUEST films, Portico features free, ad-supported programs from CBS Interactive's CHOW.com, Popular Science, Discovery's Revision3, and WSJ Live from The Wall Street Journal.
