Men Are Just as Likely as Women to Send Holiday Cards, National Survey Finds

A national survey released today by CardStore.com found that nearly three out of four (69.8 percent) of Americans send holiday cards, and that spreading cheer through the mail often came from an unlikely source: men.

The survey reveals that nearly three out of four (66.9 percent) American men send holiday cards -- close to the number of women who send cards (72.6 percent). And what happened to Southern hospitality? Turns out that Northeasterners (78.7 percent) are more likely to send cards than Southerners (64.5 percent).

Many of the survey respondents had lots of holiday hellos to send: about one in five of the respondents (22 percent) send more than 50 cards; and 37.9 percent send 20-49 cards. Of those who don't send holiday cards (30.1 percent), many said they ran out of time or were too busy. Other popular excuses include the high cost of cards or that respondents simply do not celebrate the holidays.
