Mena Resources Inc.: First Pass Drilling Program
Completed and Additional Exploration Ongoing at the
Vaquillas/Cenizas Project, Chile

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Feb. 25, 2005) - Mena
Resources Inc. (TSX VENTURE:MEA) announces the results of a 22 hole,
3,390m reconnaissance RC drilling program on its Vaquillas-Cenizas
project in 110 km east of Taltal, Chile. The project area covers 47,770
sq. km. along the Domeyko-West Fissure Fault zone and includes the old
Vaquillas silver mine.

Ten drill holes targeted an 800m NNW-SSE trending gold-in-soil anomaly
just east of the old Vaquillas silver mine. All drill holes intersected
strongly brecciated, hydrothermally-altered and sulphidized
metavolcanics and rhyodacites. Sulphides occur as fine veinlets of very
fine grained black sulphides and disseminations in metavolcanics and
metasediments. The holes were drilled along section lines spaced 200m
apart for over 800 metres.

The Company is encouraged by the intense alteration and sulphidization
encountered over widths up to 160m and grades ranging from 0.42 g/t gold
to 1.46 g/t gold. Holes VQ003, VQ002 and VQ010 terminated in
mineralization. Drill results are shown in the table below and the
location of drill holes is shown on the Company's website, .

The Cenizas area lies approximately 5km south of the Vaquillas mine. Six
drill holes tested a north-south trending breccia zone in metasediments
adjacent to porphyritic intrusive over a strike length of one kilometre.
Of the six drill holes only CZ005 returned significant values, 198m @
0.45 g/t gold. All drill holes showed intense pyrite alteration in
strongly brecciated, silicified and sericite-altered metasediments and
the zone remains open.

Two additional targets were tested. At the Chaco Creek Area one drill
hole tested a zone of silicified and decalcified calcareous sediments
exposed in a road cut that assayed 2.93 g/t gold over 8m, including 7.22
g/t gold over two metres. No significant values were encountered. In
addition, one drill hole VQ011 was drilled in the Area 14, targeting
brecciated and altered meta-volcanics on a strand of the Cenizas
structure. No significant precious metals values were encountered but
the drill hole shows copper values about 10 times background (281ppm
versus background of 32ppm).

All samples were assayed by 50g fire assay with AAS finish at
independent commercial laboratories. Approximately 5% of all samples
were split as duplicates and resubmitted with new sample numbers as
check samples. All results are considered highly reliable.

Exploration is ongoing on the Vaquillas/Cenizas Project. Mena continues
to evaluate a number of anomalous areas for precious metal targets
including breccia hosted silver-gold mineralization similar to the past
producing Vaquillas Open Pit and bulk tonnage disseminated gold zones as
evidenced by the recently completed drilling. The Vetas Negras volcanic
dome located ten kilometres north of the Vaquillas mine continues to
return highly anomalous results for silver and gold.

In addition to the precious metal targets, the Cenizas and Vaquillas
drilling has shown large areas underlain by intensely sulphidized and
brecciated silica- and sericite-altered metasediments and metavolcanics
in areas intruded by felsic porphyry intrusives strongly suggestive of a
porphyry copper environment. The areas drilled are within the
Domeyko-West Fissure fault zone (DWFFZ) near the intersection with
Culampaja Discontinuity, a favourable geological environment for
porphyry districts. Mena has assembled a significant ground position
(47,770 hectares) and believes the area is highly prospective for
porphyry copper intrusives.
