Mena Resources Inc.: Project Update-Additional Positive Results Lead to Expanded Drilling Program at the Increible 6 Gold Project, Bolivar State, Venezuela

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - April 6, 2006) - Mena Resources Inc. (TSX VENTURE:MEA) is pleased to provide the following update on the exploration and drilling program on the Increible 6 Gold Project located in the El Callao District, Bolivar State, Venezuela. Increible 6, along with two other Venezuelan gold projects, are within a joint venture agreement between Mena Resources Inc. and Mineria MS, a private Venezuelan mining company, where Mena's 24% interest is carried through the first US$15 million in expenditures.

The current phase began in February of 2006 and was originally scheduled for 11,000 metres of diamond drilling and 9,000 metres of Reverse Circulation drilling. To date 8500 metres of core drilling and 5000 metres of Reverse Circulation drilling have been completed, following up on 17,800 metres of diamond drilling completed in 2004 - 2005. Due to the very encouraging results for this current program an additional two diamond drills have now been mobilized to the property to begin working on an expanded drilling program that will consist of an additional 13,000 metres of diamond drilling and 7,000 metres of reverse circulation.

The expanded drill program will now be serviced by a total of four diamond drills and one reverse circulation drill and is expected to be completed by June of 2006. The drilling will continue to be directed at expanding the known gold mineralized zones, testing newly identified zones, and providing more detailed data within the Elisa, Cristina and Culebra Zones.

A considerable amount of sampling for the currently completed drills holes is in progress. More than 800 samples have been submitted to the lab and results will be released on a regular basis. The following Tables summarize the intercepts for all samples received to date from the current program.

NOTES: 1) All thicknesses are core widths / true widths have not been
calculated.
2) All weighted averages calculated using uncut assays.
3) For diamond drilling the holes are spaced at 50 metre
centres.
4) In-fill RC drill holes concentrate the hole spacing to 25m
by 50m.

Primary sample analyses have been conducted at Mineria MS's Emilia Facility assay lab, Venezuela, with a regular series of checks and duplicates analysed by SGS Labs of Toronto, Ontario, Canada and Triad Labs of El Dorado, Venezuela. Each batch of drill samples analysed includes at least one standard, blank and field duplicate. Samples are analysed for gold by industry standard 30 gram fire assays. A review of the QA/QC results shows excellent repeatability between the various labs and no significant bias. All results are considered highly reliable. Sample rejects for all drill samples are stored in Mena's secure facilities in Tumeremo, Venezuela, and will continue to be available for any further testing which may be required.

Diamond drilling is being completed by Major Drilling of New Brunswick, Canada and CoreBeil Drilling of Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela. Reverse Circulation drilling is being completed by AK Drilling of Peru. All drilling and exploration, including the QA/QC, on the Increible 6 Project, is under the direction supervision of Gregory F. Smith, PGeo., Mena's exploration manager in Venezuela.

Additional details on the Increible 6 Gold Project including property geology and mineralization as well as maps showing the location of the mineralized zones are available on the Company's web site at www.menaresources.com.

Qualified Person: Gregory F. Smith, P.Geo. is the Qualified Person as defined by National Instrument 43-101 responsible for the geological data reported in this news release.
