Mercedes-Benz Incentive Increases Sales Nearly 1,500% and Consumers Save $6.7 Million Off MSRP Through USAA Car Buying Service, Powered by Zag

SANTA MONICA, CA--(Marketwire - October 13, 2009) - On July 1st, 2009, Mercedes-Benz USA, USAA and Zag launched a program in which Mercedes-Benz offered additional savings up to $5,000 off the price of new Mercedes-Benz car purchases to USAA Members through the Zag-powered USAA Car Buying Service. These additional savings, which are in addition to current special member pricing, rebates and other incentives and are exclusive to USAA Members, stimulated strong results in July and August.

In July, the number of searches for new Mercedes-Benz vehicles on the USAA Car Buying Service increased by 1,537% compared to June and the volume of new Mercedes-Benz vehicles sold through the USAA Car Buying Service increased by 669% compared to June. August results were even stronger, with the volume of new Mercedes-Benz vehicles sold through the USAA Car Buying Service increased by 102% compared to July and 1,465% compared to June. In total, the program helped members save more than $6.7 million off of MSRP including exclusive member incentives for new Mercedes-Benz purchases. And, since the USAA Car Buying Service program launched in 2007 it helped members save more than $200 million off of MSRP including special member incentives.

The program helped Mercedes-Benz increase its market share within the luxury vehicle segment. Mercedes-Benz increased its market share of new luxury vehicles sold through the USAA Car Buying Service to 49% in August, compared to 43% in July and 10% in June.
