MerchantCircle Launches Chamber of Commerce Program to Connect and Promote Local Chambers and Their Members

New Initiative Creates Micro-Communities Within Growing Network of 1.4 Million MerchantCircle Members

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA--(Marketwire - December 15, 2010) - MerchantCircle, the largest online network of local business owners in the nation, today announced the rollout of its latest initiative, the Chamber of Commerce and Group Affiliation program.

Local Chambers of Commerce provide essential components for the success of their members. In support of these efforts, MerchantCircle created a partnership program designed to promote Chambers and their members.

The program allows Chambers of Commerce to import their members, creating a listing page for each business that will then be branded with the chamber's logo and connected to the Chamber of Commerce homepage, and to the MerchantCircle page.

"As an organization, the Mountain View Chamber of Commerce is deeply committed to fostering the success of our members," said Oscar Garcia, CEO of the Mountain View Chamber of Commerce in Mountain View, Calif. "By partnering with MerchantCircle, we extend the benefits of Chamber membership to a new platform, deepening our community and presence on the web."

A variation of the Chamber of Commerce program, the Group Affiliation program, is also available to other networking or professional organizations of small business owners. First to pilot this program was Spokane Grapevine, a local online magazine and networking organization in Spokane, Wash.

"MerchantCircle's free program not only connects our local businesses to local customers, it also connects our members to each other and links back to our home website," said Monte Tareski, long-time MerchantCircle user and owner of Spokane Grapevine. "That kind of networking and exposure is invaluable to our local business community."

Now, Chambers of Commerce and other group affiliations who wish to expand their internet presence while building a branded network for their individual communities on MerchantCircle can easily do so.

Key features of the program include:

  • An automatic membership upgrade to Premium listing
  • A Local Sponsorship with highlighted positioning on local search pages
  • A membership identification badge on each member listing with links to the home website and the organization's MerchantCircle listing page.
  • Automatic connection to all current members and any new MerchantCircle member in the Chamber's city.
