mergermarket to Host Israeli Dealmakers in San Francisco

Event to Address Trends in Israeli M&A and Opportunities for Cross-Border Collaboration

TEL AVIV, ISRAEL and SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - Feb 29, 2012) - mergermarket, an independent mergers and acquisitions intelligence service, is proud to host, in association with Herzog Fox Neeman (HFN) and the California Israel Chamber of Commerce, an event examining cross-border opportunities between the United States West Coast and Israel.

In spite of longstanding investment flows between Silicon Valley and Israel, this inaugural event is one of the first to specifically examine best practices for completing M&A transactions in the two markets. It will feature Sigal Admony-Ravid, Consul for Economic Affairs to the West Coast, The Israeli Ministry of Industry Trade and Labor and Alec Ellison, Vice Chairman, Chairman of Technology Investment Banking, Jeffries & Co. Inc.

"M&A in Israel is expected to stay strong in 2012 mainly due to the Technology, Media, Telecoms (TMT) sector," Lisa Damast, Israel correspondent for mergermarket, said. "Despite the tough economy, technology companies in the United States still have cash to spend and are looking for innovative companies in Israel that can give them an edge over their competitors."

Apple recently acquired Israeli chip maker Anobit for USD 390m while several other companies from the San Francisco area have visited to Israel to originate opportunities. The strength of Israeli companies in areas such as mobile and software will continue to draw foreign companies while foreign venture capital and private equity funds will seek to fill the void left by the shortage of local funding in Israel.

Meir Linzen, HFN's Managing Partner, observed: "In 2011, we saw a significant level of high quality investment from the West Coast in Israeli technology companies. We believe that Israeli know-how in the TMT sector will continue to be an attractive target for leading Silicon Valley investors, TMT players and venture funds alike."

On hand will be mergermarket's New York and West Coast deputy editors, Hana Askren and Mark Andress, respectively, and mergermarket Israel Correspondent, Lisa Damast. Topics to be discussed include government involvement in securing investment flows, opportunities in the Israeli TMT sector and cross-border deal trends.
