Merida Puts the Sexy in Sustainable Flooring at the London NYC

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwire - October 6, 2010) -  On Thursday, September 30th, sustainable rug manufacturer Merida Meridian held an after-hours press event at the London Hotel NYC. The event celebrated their groundbreaking 2010 products and marked their continued commitment to collaboration with top interior designers to demonstrate that sustainability is synonymous with good interior design.

"It is incredibly exciting for us to be introducing these new and innovative products and it is even more exciting to see the response they are eliciting from design leaders," said Merida's CEO, Catherine Forster Connolly.

Merida was pleased with the turnout that included top interior designers and design magazines. "If we are truly going to make a difference in people's lives though natural rugs sustainably designed products, it's going to take manufacturers, designers and the media working together," stated Mark Marquis, Merida's Director of Marketing.

In attendance were many top designers from both coasts, including Jason Oliver Nixon, Matthew Frederick and internationally renowned lifestyle designer Barclay Butera, who will be showcasing his Merida rug collaborations at Highpoint NC in October 2010.

Among the key design media represented were Elle Décor, Hospitality Design Magazine, House Beautiful, Traditional Home, and Veranda. Editors were excited about the products showcased with a series of design boards outlining the inspiration, stories behind the products and new photography.

Among the 2010 products celebrated were Sweater, Merida's 100% un-dyed wool product woven in Fall River, Massachusetts; Pure, their 100% natural, un-dyed and compostable new broadloom wool carpeting; Veledo, their chic new recycled leather flooring and Broadway, their iconic Belgian sisal weave now available directly from Merida for the first time since its introduction 30 years ago.

Pure, Sweater and Veledo are up for 2010 Best of the Year Awards from Interior Design Magazine and with the added media buzz, the needle for Merida and sustainable design is certainly pointing up.
