GRAND RAPIDS, MI--(Marketwire - Nov 28, 2012) - Meritage Hospitality Group Inc. (OTCQX: MHGU), announces their exclusive catering agreement to operate their new casual dining concept, "Freighters," in Port Huron, MI, due to open in spring of 2013.
Located on the St. Clair River at the base of Lake Huron, the full service restaurant will serve as an integral part of the new $24 million Hilton Double Tree Hotel, Blue Water Area Convention Center and Baker College Culinary Institute. The development is co-sponsored by a public/private partnership involving the City of Port Huron, St. Clair County, private investors and Baker College. The development plan includes 45,000 square feet of meeting and convention facilities, a newly renovated 149 room Hilton Double Tree Hotel, a 200 seat Freighters restaurant and Baker College Culinary Institute.

The Hilton Hotel and Blue Water Area Convention Center will have a new, dedicated exit ramp from I-69 providing direct access to the property for guests traveling between the U.S. and Canada.
The Hilton Double Tree Hotel and Freighters restaurant are scheduled to open in the spring of 2013, followed by the Blue Water Area Convention Center in 2015. Meritage and Orion Construction, both from Grand Rapids, MI, are co-developers of the project. Orion Construction is managing construction for the entire development.
