Metanor Resources Inc.: Acquisition of a Gold Property in the Opinaca Area, James Bay Territory

VAL-D'OR, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - March 22, 2006) - Metanor Resources Inc. (TSX VENTURE:MTO) "Metanor" announces that, over the last few months, it has acquired, by staking, a highly prospective gold property in the Opinaca area (James Bay territory), in Northern Quebec.

The property includes 92 cells totalling 4,827.82 hectares (NTS sheet 32C08) centred on 52 degrees 28'E latitude and 76 degrees 18'N longitude. The cells comprising the claim block were staked to cover an area containing several airborne magnetic anomalies in a geological setting involving volcanic units located between two granitic intrusives, conducive to the discovery of gold mineralization.

This new property lies about 30 km south-southwest of the Eleonore gold property (Virginia Gold Mines), whose Roberto deposit yielded the following results, compiled from drilling: intersections of up to 18.85 g/t Au over 16 m and 12.37 g/t Au over 23 m. Goldcorp Inc. and Virginia Gold Mines announced, on December 5, 2005, that they had entered into an agreement for the acquisition of Eleonore by Goldcorp. The news release stated that "of the 212 drill holes completed to date on the entire property, over 70% have reported assays greater than 10 grams of gold per tonne, and the principal Roberto deposit remains open in both strike and depth. Goldcorp plans to continue aggressive exploration and development on Eleonore, with resource and scoping studies to be initiated early in 2006."

Furthermore, in the same area, Beaufield Consolidated Resources mentioned in its 2005 annual report having located, on a neighbouring property about 15 km south-southwest of the Roberto deposit, a gold-rich horizon associated with volcanosedimentary units, which returned gold values ranging from 6.02 g/t Au to 12.03 g/t Au over a strike length of 75 m.

Considering the excellent results obtained by various companies working in this already promising new mining camp, Metanor has undertaken compilation work to define an exploration program investigating the entire property, with the goal of bringing to light geological and structural elements that could lead to the discovery of gold mineralization.
