Metanor-Surface Drilling Begins

Hewfran-Lac Bachelor Property 'Desmaraisville, Quebec'

VAL-D'OR, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - Nov. 30, 2006) - Metanor Resources Inc. ("Metanor") (TSX VENTURE:MTO) announces the beginning of a surface drilling program on the Hewfran property adjacent to the Lac Bachelor property. The drilling program, which should total about 2,500 metres, will be carried out by Val-d'Or company Forages Orbit.

The Hewfran property is located in Lesueur Township, in the Desmaraisville area (province of Quebec). It includes 38 claims covering an area of 683 hectares, located immediately west of the Bachelor Mine's infrastructure. The Hewfran property was explored during the 80s by two underground galleries from the Bachelor Mine (levels 6 and 8) and by many diamond drill holes (on surface and underground). The geological units and extensions of the mineralized zones of the Coniagas and Bachelor mines are present on this claim block. The East zone, which corresponds to the western extension of the Bachelor Mine's main zone, has measured and indicated resources of 105,000 tonnes at 0.210 oz/t Au.

The drilling program will investigate the northeastern extension of the zone of massive sulphides hosting the old Coniagas Mine, which, from 1961 to 1967, produced a total of 652,000 tonnes at 10.8% Zn, 1.9% Pb and 4.8 oz/t Ag. A hole drilled by Aur Resources on the Hewfran property in 1988 (DDH-19501-52 on section 12100 E), about 1,500 feet northeast of the deposit, intersected a similar mineralized zone which returned an intersection of 7% Zn and 0.16 oz/t Au over 7 feet. The program will also investigate the extensions of the West zone's mineralized zones, which have been defined by drilling over a horizontal distance of about 1,000 feet and a depth of 600-1050 feet. This mineralized zone contains indicated resources totalling 110,100 tonnes at a grade of 0.208 oz/t Au and inferred resources totalling 206,900 tonnes at 0.182 oz/t Au (43-101 study published in 2005). The two orientations of mineralized structures in the West zone correspond to those of the Bachelor Mine's A zone and main zone. These resources are easily accessible via the surface and underground infrastructure (gallery on level 6) of the Bachelor Mine.

Metanor recently confirmed the agreement that, once completed, will make it the sole owner of the Lac Bachelor property. A recent assessment established the 43-101 resources at 212,300 tonnes at 0.257oz/t Au in the measured category, 715,400 tonnes at 0.219 oz/t Au in the indicated category, and 469,750 tonnes at 0.190 oz/t Au in the inferred category (43-101 report available since December 16, 2005 on Metanor can acquire a 100% interest in the Hewfran property by carrying out exploration work for an amount totalling $1,600,000 over three years.
