With Network Migration Well Underway, One Communications Lights Up Key Markets With IMS-Enabled Infrastructure

NASHVILLE, TN--(Marketwire - February 26, 2008) - MetaSwitch announced today at the CompTel
Plus show that its partnership with One Communications, a leading regional
Competitive Local Exchange Carrier (CLEC), has reached a major milestone by
successfully transitioning several key markets from a legacy voice
infrastructure to MetaSwitch's next-generation voice service platforms. The
migration has already enabled the carrier to realize significant
operational cost savings in terms of power consumption and other
efficiencies and is expected to produce a return on investment in less than
15 months.
"Our partnership with MetaSwitch was a key component in how quickly and
smoothly this transition has gone," said Russ Oliver, senior vice president
of strategy for One Communications. "The commitment of their entire
organization, from the sales team to its highly skilled professional
services organization, has provided real value at every interaction."
MetaSwitch's softswitch platforms provide the fundamental core of One
Communications' new network infrastructure, providing a flexible,
IMS-enabled platform to support innovative voice services today as well as
set the stage for future communication service programs. The migration,
which is happening in phases but will ultimately expand to include the
entire network, has been completed in Appleton, Green Bay and Madison, all
in Wisconsin.
One Communications had already deployed MetaSwitch's softswitch platforms
network wide and implemented a "cap and grow" program for new lines of
service. The decision to remove legacy Class 5 switches from service was
made when One Communications launched an aggressive service creation and
roll-out strategy that the legacy hardware could not support.
"One Communications' successful network migration demonstrates the highest
level of commitment to its customers and is a clear indication of its
intent to be at the forefront of service innovation," said Graeme
MacArthur, MetaSwitch's chief executive officer. "To support their
strategy, our commitment to One Communications was that we'd help them
through each step in this migration, providing the vital support and
services they required to realize their operational, service and business
objectives."
