LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwire - June 17, 2008) - NXTcomm 2008 -- MetaSwitch today announced
enhancements to its MetaSphere application suite that are set to accelerate
the adoption of next-generation services, and bring an "energy boost" to
legacy carrier networks. MetaSphere-based services can now be deployed to
subscribers hosted on legacy end office switches, enabling carriers to
deliver advanced, next-generation features to their entire subscriber base,
without requiring a complete migration of the network to IP. The MetaSphere
application suite delivers a broad and evolving range of enhanced services,
including Web-based service configuration, flexible management of incoming
calls, Web/TV/mobile telco service mash-ups, fixed/mobile integration, and
other exciting services that enable carriers to differentiate their product
offerings, quickly attract new customers, increase revenues from existing
customers and reduce subscriber churn and line loss.
Carriers need to continuously innovate as subscriber demand for
increasingly advanced telephony applications grows. While many service
providers are transitioning to all IP-based networks in order to deliver
these in-demand services, there are many carriers that are not planning to
commit to a full or partial network migration in the short term. For these
carriers, the solution is to introduce enhanced applications today, before
building entirely new IP-based core networks.
"Not all carriers want to make the leap from legacy to all IP-based
networks," said Joe McGarvey, principal analyst, carrier IP telephony
infrastructure, Current Analysis. "Network migrations can be difficult to
manage, plus many carriers don't have their plans in place yet for the
transition to IP. In enabling carriers to deploy MetaSphere applications
independent of their switch migration strategy, MetaSwitch is making its
solutions relevant to the broadest possible set of customers, significantly
expanding its addressable market."
"It's a common misconception that a VoIP infrastructure is required to
bring advanced services to telephony customers," said Martin Taylor, vice
president of product management and technology strategy at MetaSwitch. "In
many cases, the easiest path to achieving additional revenue and retaining
customers is adding high-value services using existing facilities and
equipment already installed. The MetaSphere application suite enables
carriers to rapidly add customizable services that drive revenue and ensure
customer retention, without requiring a migration to IP."
MetaSwitch will be conducting live demonstrations of its MetaSwitch
softswitch, and MetaSphere application suite, including SMB services
integrated with the desktop and IP phones, Web 2.0 mash-ups and Live
Message Screening, in Booth SU6726 at NXTcomm 2008, held at the Las Vegas
Convention Center from June 16-18, 2008.
