ALAMEDA, CA--(Marketwire - September 28, 2010) - Metaswitch Networks, a leading provider of carrier systems and communications software solutions, wrapped up its 7th Annual Metaswitch Forum last week where a record attendance of more than 800 service provider customers, partners and guests spent three jam-packed days exploring everything from innovative voice application development, hosted business services and cloud computing, to a live video link to the E/V Nautilus in the Aegean Sea and keynote from famed oceanographer Dr. Robert Ballard.
The Forum capped a full year that showed the Company move aggressively into new regions as evidenced by its announcement of new customer Telecom Argentina, successful integration of the company's first acquisition, AppTrigger, and deployment of its 1,000th system into the Copper Valley Telephone Cooperative network this summer. Metaswitch also announced its year-end results for FY 2009/10 which showed an 18% growth in top-line revenue to $134.5M.

A highlight of the event was the announcement of the first MarketVisionaries Award winners. Winners were selected by a panel of industry experts including: Venture Director with Innosight Ventures Alasdair Trotter; Gary Kim of CarrierEvolution.com; Bernie Arnason of Pivot Media; and Connected Planet Editor-in-Chief Rich Karpinski.

The event also hosted the annual Metaswitch User Group meeting and elections. "This year's Forum was amazing," said Srikanth Gomattam, manager of product and VoIP engineering at One Communications, newly elected Board Chairman of the Metaswitch Users Group. "The presentations were all top caliber, the Expo was buzzing and the overall professional style of the event made it the best conference I've attended in many years."
David H. Gibson, director of business development of BayRing Communications and WorldPath Internet Services, was elected Vice Chairman of the Board. New User Group Board members John Cole, senior systems engineer at Telephone Electronics Corporation (TEC), Sam Kumar, president and CEO of MicroTech-Tel, John Monday, director of voice communications at FastTrack Communications and Tim Riendeau, vice president of engineering at Grid4 Communications, will now join Bill Sandiford, chief technology officer and co-founder of Telnet Communications, representing Metaswitch customers in the year ahead.
