Methes Energies to Launch New Pre-Treatment Process via a Webinar Hosted by Biodiesel Magazine

LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwired - July 22, 2014) - Methes Energies International Ltd. (NASDAQ: MEIL), a renewable energy company that offers an array of products and services to biodiesel fuel producers, is pleased to announce that it will be officially launching a new pre-treatment process for high free fatty acid (FFA) biodiesel feedstocks, including corn oil, on August 28th, 2014 at 2:00 Central time via a webinar hosted by Biodiesel Magazine.

In almost all cases, biodiesel feedstock oils must be pre-treated before the oils can be converted into quality biodiesel. The pre-treatment process is either performed at the biodiesel facility or at other facilities before delivery to a biodiesel facility. Current pre-treatment processes can be expensive and challenging adding to the cost of oils and facility maintenance costs such as when using sulfuric acid.

Methes will be sharing, via the webinar, the benefits of a new pre-treatment process with industry professionals, biodiesel producers and feedstock providers. It will cover, among other things, how this new process can convert high FFA oils into biodiesel, converts crude oilseeds without the need to degum, and removes all the waxes and the red color in corn oil as well as reducing substantially the overall catalyst cost at a typical biodiesel facility. With a conversion time as low as 15 minutes to one hour this new process uses a liquid catalyst that is non corrosive and easy to handle compared to traditional sulfuric acid.

Considering that over 1.8 billion gallons of biodiesel was produced in the U.S. alone in 2013 and that most of those gallons were produced using feedstock oils that needed to be pre-treated (soybean, canola, corn and used cooking oils, etc…), Methes believes that it can capture a large part of the pre-treatment market and generate substantial revenues as producers and processors realize the benefits of this new process.

John Loewen, COO of Methes, said, "We are very excited to be presenting our new process on August 28th. Our team has been working on this for a long time and we know of many, in the industry, that could benefit from this right away. There are several producers that cannot deal with some of the feedstocks out there such as corn oil which is becoming more and more available thanks to so many ethanol plants now extracting that oil before making ethanol. In fact, even facilities running on soybean and canola oil should take a look at this new process as it will save them money in the long run. We believe that this process is a game-changer in light of all the benefits that we are looking forward to share on the webinar."

The webinar is free and open to anyone that would like to find out more. You can register for the webinar by visiting Biodiesel Magazine's website at www.biodieselmagazine.com. Select "Events" from the top menu and then "Webinars".
