Metrasens Announces Exclusive Sponsorship of New Basic MRI Safety Training Program by Frank G. Shellock, Ph.D.

LEMONT, IL--(Marketwire - Aug 11, 2011) - Metrasens, a leader in MRI ferromagnetic detection systems (FMDs), announces today exclusive sponsorship of the new educational program "Basic MRI Safety Training to Prevent Accidents and Injuries" by Frank G. Shellock, Ph.D., Adjunct Clinical Professor of Radiology and Medicine, Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California. This new magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) safety training resource is the latest addition to the comprehensive library of contributions authored and developed by Dr. Shellock. The training program is directed at medical and related personnel who may occasionally or periodically encounter MRI facilities as part of their employment and emphasizes the potential hazards and necessary safety aspects of the MRI environment that particularly impact such groups.

Dr. Shellock, who has served the MRI community for more than 25 years, created the program in response to an urgent need cited by many MRI facilities to provide better awareness and training for personnel who are not included in the more detailed core-MRI-team training programs. It is anticipated that the new basic MRI safety training program will become a standard resource for MRI facilities throughout North America and Europe.

Dr. Simon Goodyear, CEO of Metrasens, commented on the sponsorship: "Dr. Frank Shellock is recognized as a world leader in MRI safety and education and we are proud to be able to provide exclusive sponsorship for this important new training resource. Metrasens is dedicated to ensuring that MRI facilities are safe for all patients and staff and this sponsorship indicates our commitment to engaging and adding value to our customers across all aspects of their safety processes."

Dr. Shellock added, "I am extremely pleased that Metrasens has the vision to sponsor this important new program intended to train individuals often involved or responsible for accidents and incidents in the MRI environment. It is only through such close partnering between industry and practitioners that we can hope to most widely disseminate this vital information to help prevent problems in this setting."
