Metro Partners with Disney to Bring BIG News to Toronto

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - June 28, 2016) - Get ready for a BIG surprise on Thursday, June 30.

On that morning, Toronto residents in select parts of the city will wake to see huge Metro newspaper boxes promoting the highly-anticipated new Disney film, The BFG.

In fact, it won't be the usual trip for commuters in three high-traffic zones, Union Station, Dundas Square and the Yonge-Bloor intersection as 6-feet-tall Metro newspaper boxes with stilt walkers and street teams help promote the new Disney motion picture.

The Metro-Disney partnership will also be supported with a wrap of the front page of the June 30 edition of Metro newspapers in Toronto and Vancouver.

"We are always looking to bring our communities something fun and exciting," said Carolyn Sadler, VP Sales at Star Metro Media. "When the opportunity arose to create something unique with a partner such as Disney, we eagerly accepted it."

Representatives from Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Canada will be onsite at each of the locations to speak with media between 6:45 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Disney's The BFG tells the imaginative story of a young girl and the Giant who introduces her to the wonders and perils of Giant Country. The talents of three of the world's greatest storytellers - Roald Dahl, Walt Disney and Steven Spielberg - were united in bringing the beloved classic children's book to life.

Disney's The BFG opens on Canada Day, July 1, in theatres across the country.
