Metrological's Mediaconnect TV Incorporates Widevine DRM and Video Optimization Platform

Widevine Video Optimization and Digital Rights Management Will Be Included in Metrological's Metroconnect OS for the Smooth, Secure Delivery of Content to Metrological-Powered Devices

SEATTLE, WA--(Marketwire - March 22, 2010) -  Widevine, a provider of digital entertainment solutions, today announced that Widevine's adaptive streaming, virtual DVD/Blu-ray features and digital rights management (DRM) technologies will integrate with Metrological Media Innovations' Metroconnect Operating System (OS) to ensure subscribers enjoy highest quality, over-the-top video content on the new Metrological Mediaconnect TV.

Metrological Media Innovations' software for set-top box devices enables operators to extend over-the-top home media entertainment services to their subscribers. Metrological's Mediaconnect TV is a new hybrid 2-way media device, which considerably enhances the consumer's TV experience. While watching conventional television, TV viewers are able to simultaneously access an extensive range of additional next generation, web based multimedia applications. Powered by Metrological's Metroconnect OS and Widevine's DRM and video optimization platform, Mediaconnect TV's capability includes combining cable, satellite, terrestrial with IPTV and Internet TV services to ensure subscribers have the highest quality experience available on content delivered over the Internet.

"Metrological has created a software platform that combines all of the features of interactive television into one convenient location," said Albert Dahan, CTO and co-founder of Metrological. "By including Widevine's video optimization and multiplatform DRM capabilities, users of the Mediaconnect TV will be able to experience the best of interactive television."

The Widevine platform is utilized by major Internet content services and large cable, satellite and telecommunication companies launching "TV Everywhere" strategies. The company's software platform optimizes the entertainment experience for content delivered over any network to any device. The solution is natively supported in nearly all major brands and types of network connected consumer electronics including televisions, Blu-ray players, mobile devices, gaming systems and more.

"We are pleased to be chosen by Metrological to provide adaptive streaming, virtual DVD/Blu-ray features and DRM for their Metroconnect OS platform," said Brian Baker, Widevine CEO. "Widevine's proven capabilities in video optimization and DRM, plus Metrological's Metroconnect OS will create a strong platform for viewing interactive television that consumers are looking for."
