Metron Aviation Wins 2009 ATCA Charles E. Varnell Award

DULLES, VA--(Marketwire - October 5, 2009) - The Air Traffic Control Association (ATCA) has named Metron Aviation as the winner of the 2009 Charles E. Varnell Memorial Award. The prestigious award is presented annually to a small business concern for outstanding achievement or contribution, which has added to the quality, safety or efficiency of air traffic control.

Metron Aviation, in partnership with the FAA, developed Flight Schedule Monitor (FSM), the world's first Collaborative Decision Making (CDM) platform for Air Traffic Flow Management (ATFM), and numerous ATFM innovations which have eliminated 54 million minutes of delays, saved 148 million liters of fuel, reduced emissions by over 455 thousand metric tons and lowered operating costs by over U.S. $5 billion.
