The Mexico Fund, Inc. Declares Distribution and Ratifies Continuation of Managed Distribution Plan for Fiscal 2014

WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwired - Dec 16, 2013) - The Mexico Fund, Inc. (NYSE: MXF) announced today that the Board of Directors (Board) declared a distribution of $0.8648 per share to stockholders of record on December 26, 2013, which is payable in cash on January 13, 2014, consisting of (1) a distribution of $0.7703 per share pursuant to its Managed Distribution Plan (MDP) and (2) an additional distribution of $0.0945 per share paid by the Fund to meet applicable tax requirements under the U.S. Internal Revenue Code. This combined distribution is the last corresponding to the fiscal year 2013.

Under the Fund's MDP, the Fund pays quarterly distributions at an annual rate of 10% of the Fund's net asset value (NAV) per share recorded on the last business day of the previous calendar year. The Board has ratified the continuation of the Fund's MDP during fiscal 2014 at the same annual rate of 10%, with distributions to be based on the Fund's NAV per share as of December 31, 2013. The first distribution of fiscal 2014 is expected to be made during April 2014. The Board may amend or terminate the MDP at any time without prior notice to stockholders; however, at this time, there are no reasonably foreseeable circumstances that might cause the termination of the MDP. Since the implementation of the MDP in September 2008, the Fund has paid a total of $15.3755 per share in cash distributions to stockholders.

The amount of distributable income for each fiscal period depends on the aggregate gains and losses realized by the Fund during the entire year. Distributions may consist of net investment income, capital gains and return of capital, but the character of these distributions cannot be determined until after the end of the Fund's fiscal year.

However, under the Investment Company Act of 1940, the Fund is required to indicate the source of each distribution to stockholders. The following table sets forth (A) an estimate of the source of the combined October 2013 distribution (including the portion of the distribution paid pursuant to the MDP and the additional distribution) and (B) an estimate of the source of distributions for the current fiscal year:
