"We are honored to have been named one of the 'Most Promising' companies by the Rice Alliance," said Mezeo Software President and CEO Steve Lesem. "We founded Mezeo in 2008 because we recognized the significant opportunities presented by cloud computing and in particular API accessible cloud storage. The cloud storage market is growing, and our mission is to help IT service providers and enterprises quickly and affordably launch their own cloud storage service."

Five, out of more than 60 new I.T. and Web companies were pre-selected to present their 10-minute business plan presentation at the forum, and as one of the chosen five, were also named a Most Promising I.T. and Web Company.

Rice Alliance managing director Brad Burke, announced the winners of the Most Promising I.T. and Web Company awards at the event. "Every year the quality of companies improves. This year we had a diversity of companies from industrial design software to cloud-based data storage to an online portal for health food discounts. As a group, the companies this year are further along. Most have developed prototypes, sold to customers, demonstrated results and raised previous funding. This makes them more appealing to current investors, who have commented on the improved quality of the companies."

The Forum was supported by Austin Ventures, Sevin Rosen Funds, PKF Texas and Founder Institute and Rice University with supporting organizations Houston Technology Center and Opportunity Houston and media sponsors Houston Business Journal and the BusinessMakers Radio Show.
